Educational and Cultural Trust, Melmaruvathur:
The Teaching of His Holiness lay stress repeatedly
on one factor-Service to Mankind - as service to Mankind is
service to God. The above Trust founded by His Holiness about
20 years ago renders Yeoman Social and community services
irrespective of caste, creed and religion. Charitable activities
are undertaken at all festival and conferences held by the
trust.
Charitable Activities:
. Aid Appliances to the Handicapped.
. Relief’s to victims of natural calamities like flood,
drought, fire etc. During such disasters, round the clock medical
assistance is also provided.
. Under the Housing Scheme- Free Homes provided to the poor
with basic amenities like borewells and electricity.
. Charitable Homes for the Handicapped, Orphans and Aged.
. Solemnizing Free Marriage for the Poor.
. Adoption of children belonging to prisoners serving life and
death sentences.
. Free distribution of plough, sprayer, ploughing bulls, Pumping
apparatus to farmers.
. Loans are also granted to farmers.
Mass
Feeding:
Free
food is served to all devotees visiting the Siddhar Peetam
between 10:30 to 12:00 noon. Donors who wish to contribute
towards this scheme can lay down their choice of food to be
served.
Utmost
importance is given to mass feeding in all programmes drawn
up by the turst, the various committees and mandrams of the
organization. A full meal is served to each and every one
of the lakhs of devotees visiting the siddhar peetam on festival
days and during the 3 months of Sakthi Malai. The Siddhar
peetam has a large dinning hall to accommodate 2000 devotees
at a time. In the year 1995-96, more than 3 lakhs devotees
were fed during the Sakthi Malai period.
